Apart from applying effects to photos and images we can use Photoshop software to provide special effects to textual content as well.

In this Photoshop tutorial we shall learn how to apply halo effect to a textual content.

Step 1: Open a New document and set the content to transparent.

Step 2: Insert the textual content by clicking the ‘T’ button. Click Ok when you have finished inserting the text.

Step 3: Holding the ‘Ctrl’ button, left Click with your mouse on the layer palette. The text alone gets selected.

Step 4: Then Select à Feather, and set the feather radius to 5 pixels.

Step 5: This selection has to be applied to Layer1. So, clicking this layer will activate the layer palette.

Step 6: Pick a color for both the foreground as well as the background by clicking on the color selection option in the main toolbox.

Step 7: Next, Edit à Fill and choose the ‘Foreground Color’ in the dialog box.

Step 8: Click ‘Ok’ when you finish doing this.

The desired halo effect can be seen on the screen.
